Study abroad program to return to Dublin, Ireland in 2014

"Participants have the opportunity to become immersed in another culture. They can dispel myths and learn the history that influences contemporary thinking. An international experience creates opportunity to be a participant rather than an observer."

Supplemental instruction program launches to support student success

Creating new opportunities for Nevada State College students to both engage in their coursework and achieve academic success; the Student Academic Center has launched a Supplemental Instruction (SI) program. SI is a free student service that focuses on historically difficult courses, such as math and biology, and encourages students to take advantage of highly interactive, peer-organized study sessions.

Nevada State College appoints Associate Vice President of Community Engagement and Diversity Initiatives

NSC has announced the appointment of Edith Fernandez to the position of Associate Vice President of Community Engagement and Diversity Initiatives after a national search. In this new leadership role, Fernandez will work closely with the Southern Nevada community and the institution to support community outreach and diversity initiatives as well as coordinate internal efforts to retain and graduate students of all backgrounds.

NSC expands to offer Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice

Expanding to meet demand of both the local and national job market, Nevada State College has announced the addition of a Bachelors of Arts in Criminal Justice program. The college received approval to add the degree to its roster of over 24 majors and minors by the Board of Regents during a meeting held in early September.

The Dr. Joel and Carol Bower School-Based Health Center (SBHC) has been selected by 8 News NOW to be one of the three local children's clinics to benefit from the Dial 4 A Smile telethon scheduled for Sept. 10 through 12 during its 4pm to 6pm newscast. The SBHC was founded in 2004 through a Nevada State College School of Nursing and Clark County School District partnership.

Every nurse in the nation is required to take this exam prior to beginning work and I m delighted to provide my input and help uphold a standard of excellence in our field. Writing for the exam has been on my bucket list since I began teaching.

Fourteen students and one faculty advisor from Nevada State College (NSC) will participate in the college's first study abroad program at the Marino Institute of Education (MIE) in Dublin, Ireland June 8 through 22. To share their experiences and encourage future participation in the program, the initial cohort has created a group blog titled Scorpions Abroad.
